Pop superstar Justin Bieber took his girlfriend Selena Gomez out for breakfast shortly after it emerged that he had taken a DNA test to disprove a fan's claim that he fathered her baby.
After Mariah Yeater, 20, claimed that her four-month-old son was conceived during backstage sex with Bieber, then 16, at a Los Angeles concert, British tabloid The Sun reported this week that he had taken the test to prove her wrong.
Bieber insisted that he had never met Yeater, and his manager, Scooter Braun, promised that the singer would submit himself for testing. The test took place in New Jersey on Friday.
Bieber and Gomez, who were spotted at a Los Angeles pancake restaurant, did not appear to be under any strain.
After their breakfast, Bieber whisked Gomez off in his "Batmobile" - a modified Cadillac.
Yeater's lawsuit was thrown out last week after her lawyers stopped representing her, The Sun reported, but she wants to pursue the case on her own.
Bieber wants the whole sordid story to end.
"Right now, I'm focusing on my album and the music and the Pencils of Promise charity we're doing, and just being positive because Christmas is a time for joy and happiness, so that's what I'm thinking," he reportedly said.
"As far as the baby situation [is concerned], it's unfortunate that it had to happen like that.
"People make false accusations, but things happen in this industry and you have to keep your head high and be positive."
He also managed to joke about the situation.
"If it was up to me, it would have been a better story, like 'Justin Bieber went off to South America with this 27-year-old supermodel'," he quipped.
"That would have been awesome.
"They say that any press is good press - I do not believe that's true."
